Elmer Paul Vogt, age 83, of Middleburg, Florida passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 31, 2014 at 11:25 p.m. He was surrounded by loving family who held his hands as he left us. The family was blessed to be able to gather and speak with him to say goodbye before he passed.
Elmer was born on August 4, 1931, in Buffalo, New York, one of six siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Stella Vogt, his brother Mathew and his sisters Teresea and Eleanor.
Elmer served in the US Navy as an Aircraft Electronics Technician. Afterwards he went to work for Bendix, A NASA contractor and traveled throughout the world, living in overseas locations like Zanzibar, Newfoundland, Canada and the Canary Islands (11 years). He lived in Maryland for a number of years but retired to sunny Florida and has been a resident here for 14 years.
He is survived by his sister Gertrude and his brother Raymond, his loving wife Antonia (Toni), his sons Robert, Richard (wife-Cherie) and Ronald (wife-Sandy), his daughter Rosemary, his grandchildren Richard II, Jessica, Kassandra, Shantell, William, Danielle, Stephanie, Samantha and Jesse, his great-grandchildren Lola, Anna, Jacob, Jackson, Kadence, Brooklynn and Logan. He leaves behind many dear friends. He was loving and generous to everyone. He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Orange Park.
We will miss him dearly but he is not gone from our hearts- he has just gone ahead and the Lord is his shepherd, he shall not want.
Memorial services will be held January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Florida. He will later be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
