Beloved husband and father, Elmer Trombly passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at Merrimack County Nursing Home surrounded by his devoted family. He was 85.
Born in Concord NH on May 26, 1932, the son of Napoleon Trombly and Gertrude (Foley) Trombly. Elmer was one of 9 children. He was a lifelong resident of Concord and graduated from Concord High School in 1950 where he played football and ran track. On August 6, 1955, Elmer married Gloria (Masse') Trombly of Penacook NH. Elmer and Gloria built their own home and raised their family in East Concord.
Elmer worked at Evans Printing Company in Concord for many years before becoming a Real Estate Agent. In his later years Elmer worked in Sales for the NH State Sweepstakes Commission before retiring. Throughout his life Elmer took several enrichment courses at Boston University, University of N.H. and N.H. Technical Institute. Over the span of his lifetime Elmer was a member of the Christian Servants, East Concord Lamplighters, Concord Square Dancing Club and the N.H. Lakes Association.
Elmer enjoyed spending time with his family, travel, eating sweets, fishing, eating sweets, home improvement projects, and eating sweets. Elmer was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and gentle demeanor. Elmer's greatest talents included creative nicknaming, and tremendous patience.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughters, Carolyn Trombly and her husband, Scott Allen, Alyson Palis and her husband, Willian Palis, his brother, Paul Trombly and several nieces and nephews. Elmer is also survived by his former son-in-law and good friend Edward Nichols, Jr.
Elmer was predeceased by his grandsons, Mathieu and Jeremy Nichols; sisters, Pauline Gamble, Lois Woodman, Barbara Spinney, Marie Guerin and brothers, Edward, Raymond and Nelson.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 10:00 - 11:00 am with a Memorial Service immediately following at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St. Concord. A brief Committal Ceremony will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
