Elsie A. Gudeker

May 5, 1925 – May 6, 2017

Elsie was born May 5, 1925 to Frank and Eulalia Pojar on a farm near Howells, NE. She married Ed Gudeker in 1942 and they were married 56 years before Ed’s passing in 1998.

Elsie worked at Elgin watch for 10 years until they closed. For the next 17 years she worked at the Credit Bureau, Dial Finance and several brokerage houses. In 1976, she semi-retired and worked 3 days a week at Bryan Hospital as a cashier until her retirement in 1987.

She had many interests. She fell in love with driving a car after Ed taught her how to drive. She preferred driving over flying and drove all over the United States sometimes by herself. She especially liked driving in Montana and Wyoming because they didn’t’ have speed limits. She enjoyed traveling to all the states and was lucky enough to go to Cuba while it was still open for visiting. Elsie also loved to sew; making a lot of her and Ed’s clothes. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Lincoln Women’s Bowling Association for 16 years. In 2000 she was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Her vegetable and flower gardens kept her busy all summer long. She grew a huge assortment of almost every color of iris there was. She also loved to raise African violets and always had a window full of them. Later in life she enjoyed playing cards.

Elsie was the president of several bowling leagues and also served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors at Northgate Estates.

Elsie is survived by her sister, Gladys; daughter, Marylin; grandsons, Don and Brian; great grandchildren, Adam, Melanie, Coty and Shelby and great great grandson, Odin.
