Elsie "Arleene" Phillips Bonnell, age 90 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Friday afternoon, August 11, 2017 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, WV. She had been in declining health.
She was born Monday, September 20, 1926 at Barbour County, WV a daughter of the late Willie Gay and Eva Beatrice Day Phillips. On September 12, 1948 at Elkins, WV she was married to Stanley Bonnell, who preceded her in death April 8, 1996. Surviving are two sons, Richard Allen "Rich" Bonnell and wife Elizabeth of Dover, DE, Gary Lynn Bonnell and wife Stephanie Dove of Southside, TN; one daughter, Linda Kay Stalnaker and husband Charley of Elkins; one brother, Robert Lee Phillips and wife Madeline of Dartmore; one sister, Lorraine Roethlisberger of OH; three grandchildren, Kathryn Marie Washinski, Dr. Renee Ann Boggs, DVM, and Rebecca Lynn Borntreger, all of DE; two step grandchildren Matthew and Stevie; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, Arlton; Linwood; and Harry C. "Clarence" Phillips.
She was a graduate of Belington High School with the Class of 1944. She had worked at Woolworths as a Housewares Manager and had also worked for the W. T. Grant Company and K-Mart. She was a volunteer at Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she had worked in the Gift Shop and the Snack Bar. She was a faithful member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 11 AM to 1 PM, Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 1 PM. The Rev. Kelly Simmons and the Rev. Jim Murphy will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road, Elkins WV.
