Elva Thurston Lacalli, 96, passed peacefully in her sleep into the presence of her Savior on August 27, 2017 at the Columbia Lutheran Home in Seattle. Elva was born in Barrhead, Alberta, Canada on January 10, 1921. She came to Seattle as a young adult to work for the British Consulate. She was united in marriage to Robert C. Lacalli on October 20, 1944, and they continued to make Seattle their home throughout their lives. Robert preceded Elva in death on July 24, 1998.

Elva is survived by her children and their spouses: Thurston (Mary Kathryn) Lacalli, Victoria, B.C., Kate (Joe) Palczak, Seattle, WA, Robert (Rowena) Lacalli, Seattle, WA, and Elizabeth (Steve) Wallin, Dallas, TX; by 6 loving grandchildren, Amara (Rob), Kristen (Dominic), Robbie (Kathryn), Tommy, Riley, and Reyna; and by 6 great-grandchildren, Braedan, Sierra, Marissa, Isaiah, Adalie and Josiah. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Hessler and Pat Bray. Her third sister, Mary McDonald, is also deceased.

Elva had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Bellewood Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, where she was active for many years. She was deeply committed to supporting missionaries. She will be sadly missed by friends and family who loved her very much and will always remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was welcoming and generous, an accomplished worrier, made the best gravy, and always had a twinkle in her eye.

Graveside service on Tuesday September 5 at 1:00 pm, at Acacia Memorial Park, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission.
