BURLINGTON, MA: Erin Elizabeth O'Brien, 35, of Lisbon Falls, ME, passed away on April 27, 2017. She was born on June 8, 1981 in Lancaster, NH. She attended schools in Gorham, NH, Belgrade, ME, and Camden, ME, graduating from Camden Hills Regional High School in 1999. While in school, she was a member of band, played field hockey, obtained many friends, all of whom she cared for deeply. She lived her life with care and concern for others, and if someone was "broken" she tried her best to "fix" them. Her desire to help others led her to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from Earlham College in Indiana in 2003. Upon graduation, she entered the U.S. Army as a Mental Health Specialist, and nobly served two tours of duty during wartime in Iraq. Upon leaving t, she returned home to begin her civilian life, and on May 31, 2009, her daughter Olivia Jane was born, the love of her life. Wanting nothing more than to be a mother, she was a stay-at-home mom for many years while continuing to follow her passion of helping others, including fellow veterans and women. She was Adjutant of American Legion Post 202 at the time of her death, a position that gave her much pride.

Surviving members of her family include her mother and stepfather Sue & Jeff Smith of Jackson, NH; her father and stepmother Dennis & Deb O'Brien of Newburyport, MA; her loving sister Caitlin O'Brien of Odenton, MD; her loving step-sister Alexandria Smith of Vassalboro, ME; her beautiful daughter Olivia Scholz of Thomaston, ME; her grandfather Howard Lowell and Phyllis of Crystal River, FL; her grandmother Muriel Bassett and Earl of Berlin, NH; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and numerous friends... She loved all of us so much.

A celebration of Erin's life will be held at the American Legion Post 202 72 Foreside Road in Topsham on Wednesday May 3 at 4:00pm.
