Ms. Esther Anobea (Awo) Aferi, 56, of Ghana, West Africa, passed away on June 12, 2017 while visiting her family and attending the annual Rotary Club Convention that was held in Atlanta, Georgia in the U.S.A. Esther was born on March 16, 1961 in Ghana, West Africa, to Major-General Rtd. Nathan Aferi, Sr. and Elizabeth Nee-Boye.
Esther attended Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School and then went on to graduate from Ghana's renowned Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Esther was an experienced, respected graphic designer who established her own design business, A Plus Design Haus. Quite the entrepreneur, she also recently developed a new real estate business in partnership with a friend, which was beginning to expand.
Her undying faith is most important. Esther was a member of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC - La Branch). She joined the Christian Medical Missions Resource Foundation (CMMRF) in 1993 and was a member of the Executive Council and their Prayer Director from 1997-2001. Esther worked closely with the Medical Mission in Ghana, and her home served as their temporary office until they eventually secured a permanent base. She graciously designed and printed all the organizational materials for CMMRF. Esther coordinated the distribution of the Samaritan's Purse program across several rural areas in Ghana. She participated in the cooking and serving of donated food to the mission's sizable beneficiaries in the Upper East region of Ghana. Esther helped in the establishment of the International Joy Christian Center in 2007, playing major roles as their Director and Executive Secretary. Esther was also an active member of the Rotary Club of Ghana - Accra East, serving as the club's Public Relations Director.
The time Esther invested in charitable work(s) is immeasurable. She led a continual life of service to God and humanity, remaining a steadfast and devout Christian, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend; she will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Many people have been reached and blessed by her natural selflessness.
Along with her late father, Major-General Rtd. Nathan Aferi Sr., Esther is preceded in death by her brother, Martin Aferi (RIP). She is survived by her mother Elizabeth Nee-Boye; four brothers - Nathan Aferi, Ofei Aferi, Nana Adu Aferi, and Kweku Amonoo; four sisters - Rosemary Aferi, Angela Ansah, Nana Asabea Ababio and Cecilia Amonoo-Kennedy, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service to honor the life of Ms. Esther Aferi will be held at 11.30am on the morning of Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
A visitation with the family will take place from 5pm in the afternoon until 9pm on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the funeral home.
