Ethel Beatrice Hines of Randolph, NJ went to join our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Morris View Health Care Center in Morristown, NJ. Ethel (or Miss Ethel as she was most fondly referred to) is the daughter of the late "Bush" Battle Green and the late Berma Vivian Green (Suitt). She was the only child of Battle and Berma Vivian. On September 17th, 1949, Ethel married Thomas Edward Hines who survives. Ethel was a graduate of Morristown High School and was an avid reader. Some might say that Ethel was a diligent enough and smart enough student where she could have pursued a teaching degree. Ethel held quite a few positions in her work career. She was an employee of Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, NJ, Bell Telephone in Morristown, NJ and The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ. Ethel's most important position was that of homemaker. Ethel raised her children and raised them well. Miss Ethel could turn a phrase. She was truly a pleasure to be around. She LOVED a good time or "finger poppin" as she most fondly called it. She also loved being with her FAMILY. Family was paramount to Miss Ethel. Every Sunday was a reason to give thanks at Ethel's home. Miss Ethel LOOOOOVED to cook. And she loved to see you eat because that was a clear indication that you TRULY enjoyed her cooking. Miss Ethel loved herself some fried chicken and was mostly known for her bakery quality cakes and pies. Cooking good was just the tip of the iceberg with Ethel. Along with cooking good, Ethel loved to look good. Miss Ethel was always ahead of her time with fashion. She was BOLD, she was FLASHY, and any outfit she touched was sure to be a crowd pleaser. Lastly, Miss Ethel was a tremendous humanitarian and model friend. If you could call Ethel Hines friend, you were truly blessed. She always gave of herself, her time, and her energy to make sure every human being she touched felt loved. Ethel is survived by her son and daughter–in-law, Mr. Ronald Edward Hines, Sr. and Mrs. Brenda Hines of the Bronx NY; her daughter and son–in–law, Mr. Stuart Haynes and Mrs. Berma Haynes of Morristown, NJ; eight grandchildren – Mrs. Lea (Alexander) Ba (wife of Mr. Maham A. Ba), Marques Hines, Ronald Edward Hines Jr. (J.R.), Thomas Erik Alexander, Monique Hines, Camille Haynes, Janine Haynes, Constance Haynes; one beloved great-grandson, Matteo Ba. We will truly miss our mother, granny, and friend. To send a Life Tribute or Condolences to the Hines family, please click the "Sign Guestbook" link below.
