Ethel Rodgers Roberson, 101, passed into eternal heavenly rest on Friday, April 22, 2016.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Whitestone Masonic Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitestone Masonic Home Cemetery.
Ethel was born in Norfolk, Virginia and raised at Elon Christian Orphanage. She lived in Graham before moving into Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro with her husband Alton, 24 years ago and lived there very happily ever since. Ethel was a member of Greensboro Chapter 14 O.E.S. She was very active in Eastern Star work, was past Worthy Matron, and traveled to many other chapters. Ethel was a member of Bible Baptist Church and attended Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church and she loved The Lord. In addition to her husband Alton, she was preceded in death by her son, Bill Roberson who was a Police Officer, killed in the line of duty; and her brother, Charles Rodgers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her niece and nephew, Marie Rodgers of Miami, Fl. And Dick Rodgers of California; grandchildren, Lance Dunlap and Carolena Dunlap Bomersbach; daughter-in-law, Sugar Cobb Dunlap and her husband Ben and Sugar's sister, Zona Cobb Ridout.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Whitestone for their many years of kindness and friendships.
