Ethelind Greta Ericka Bjorklund Hansen, a long time resident of Little Falls, passed away on January 7, 2018 at the Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge with her family by her side. She was born on November 14, 1927 to Anna and Johan Bjorklund in Jersey City. She grew up in North Arlington and graduated from North Arlington High School in 1945. She married Reinhold Hansen in 1948 and moved to Little Falls in 1950 where she raised her family and resided for 62 years. Ethelind is predeceased by her parents, husband and brother (John Bjorklund). She is survived by her two children, daughter Lynn (Abbie) of Eatontown, NJ and son Kris of Hopatcong, NJ, multiple nephews and a niece. Ethelind worked as a secretary for Western Electric and Manischewitz before becoming the Office Manager and an Officer of Cameron Craig Ltd in Newark, NJ. Upon retiring from Cameron Craig Ltd in 1998 after more than 30 years of service, she became the Secretary for the First Reformed Church of Little Falls, NJ. She enjoyed working in that capacity for more than a decade. Over the years, Ethelind was very active in her community. She supported her children's activities and was an Assistant Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star - Little Falls #224 and held various positions in that organization (including Worthy Matron). She also held various leadership positions in the First Reformed Church of Little Falls. Ethelind was an exceptional friend and totally devoted to her children. She always had a kind and supportive word for everyone. She was a gentle soul with the patience of a saint. Although, when she put her mind to something, she was extremely determined, and nothing could get in her way. She had an unprecedented green thumb. Her gardens were beautiful and friends would drop off plants to her to bring back to life. Ethelind was an exceptional cook who could make something out of nothing from the refrigerator. She loved to travel with the Eastern Star and went on a variety of bus trips and riverboat cruises. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, January 11, 2018 followed by a funeral service at11:00 at the Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls, NJ. Order of Eastern Star Service at 10:15 am. Interment to follow at the Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Order of the Eastern Star #224, 14 Lincoln Ave, Little Falls, NJ 07424 or the First Reformed Church, 61 Main St., Little Falls, NJ would be appreciated.
