Eugene Avent Lee was born 11/21/1955 and passed from this earth 12/13/2017 breathing his last mortal breath and then taking his first eternal breath in heaven in the presence of our Lord and His angels. No more pain, no more suffering, just the holy presence of the Lord and the feel of his new body, mind and soul. The old has passed away and the new has taken flight.
Gene was a member of the US Naval service where he enlisted December 1974. Gene served as a P3 air crewman. Many stories could be told regarding his service, especially his time off in the afternoons from the Navy. Gene was a character. He was also a member of the Pensacola parrot Head society and Lower Alabama Parrot Head Society.
Gene's greatest accomplishment and gift that he bestowed to others was his love for Christ and a sense of humor that could lighten the darkest of days. His hearty laugh and smile could brighten any face. He was one of kind here on earth and we assure you he will be one of a kind in Heaven. We will miss our husband/father/brother/grandfather/family member but we will rejoice in the knowledge that he has been reborn in the likeness of Christ.
Gene was born in Greenwood, MS. He later moved to Collierville, TN. with his wife Mary Ann Lee. They raised two daughters, Lori Lee Cheshier (Derek Cheshier) and Shannon Leigh Stephens (Charles Ronald Stephens, Jr.). He left behind grandchildren Brandon Russell, Leanna Russell, Sarah Hager, Blake Cheshier, Tyler Chrestman, Faith Chrestman, and Hunter Chrestman.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that any donations be given to the mission's fund at The Point Baptist Church of Pensacola or the Gulf Coast Zoo.
Services and burial will be held December 20th at The Innerarity Point Baptist Church located at 13801 Innerarity Point Rd. Pensacola, FL 32507. Visitation will be at 10:30 and services begin at 11:30. Committal services will be located at Barrancas National Cemetery located at 1 Cemetery Rd. Pensacola, FL. 32508.
