Eugene Jackson Shetter, 88, Tampa, passed away August 3, 2017. Jack was born September 2, 1928 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Claude L. and Amelda M. Shetter of Rossville, Georgia. His sister, Jane Gilreath of Chattanooga, Tennessee predeceased him.



Jack is survived by his wife, Betty S. Shetter; children, Kenneth Shetter of Marietta, Georgia, Patricia Bornemann of Tampa, and Carol Reddick (Randy) of Kingston, Tennessee; grandchildren, Sydnee Marchese, Ryan Bornemann, Caitlin Shetter, Kelly Bornemann, Devon Reddick, Kelsey Smith, and Rebecca Reddick; great-grandchildren, Isabella Marchese, Nash Bornemann, and Finnley Bornemann; and nephews Richard Gilreath and Ronald Gilreath.



After graduation from Thomas Jefferson High School, Tampa, in 1946, Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of South Florida. For over forty years, Jack taught and coached football in Dalton, Georgia, and was a science teacher and coach at Coleman Junior High School in Tampa, Florida. Jack was a member of Palma Ceia United Methodist Church for nearly seven decades and served as a Boy Scout Leader. Jack enjoyed traveling, fine cuisine, gourmet cooking, and gardening.



A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 12th at 10:00 A.M. at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, 3723 W. Bay-to-Bay Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33629. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palma Ceia United Methodist Church.
