Eugene M. Lyons, 87, of Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he attended St. Sylvester’s Elementary School, St. Francis Prep High School in Brooklyn and went on to St. Francis College where he received a Bachelor’s degree. Gene served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Gene was a Grand Knight with Woodhaven Council, a member of Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Crean Div. 1 Ancient Order of Hibernians, American Legion Post 93 and VFW Post 3525. He was employed with SUNY as a Research Assistant, NL Industries, American Cyanomid and retired from Carter Wallace as a Director of Health and Safety. Predeceased by his parents, Owen and Rose Lyons, and his granddaughter, Colleen Odgen; he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maureen (Lacey) Lyons; his devoted children, Maureen Ogden, Patricia Lyons, Colleen Callan, Michael Lyons, Christine Lyons and Cathleen Garton; his adoring grandchildren, Sean, Patrick and Kevin Callan, Michael P., Keely, Micaela and Katelyn Lyons, Ryan Toriello, Katie and Aiden Weil, Megan and Owen Garton. Funeral services will begin on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ 08690. Cremation will take place privately. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home.
