Eunice Sandra Prather, daughter of the late Forest and Blanche Prather, was born September 5, 1943 in Olney, Maryland. She suddenly departed this life Friday, June 16, 2017 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland. She was the fourth of six children. She was a generous and caring woman but she was also outspoken and very protective of those that she loved. Nothing provided her with greater joy than spending quality time with her friends, family, and loved ones.

Eunice was educated in the Montgomery County Public School system. She attended Carver High School and went on to graduate from Gaithersburg High School. Eunice was a very hard and conscientious worker, no matter the endeavor. She was employed by Vitro Corporation for many years. Thereafter, she went on to work for Claims Administration Corporation. Prior to retiring, she worked at various childcare centers. She immensely enjoyed working with the infants and the staff, parents and children were very fond of her.

Eunice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young adult. She was a woman of great faith and she vehemently sought God to guide and direct her life. She was a faithful member of Emory Grove United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland where she served as an usher, as well as a communion steward. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women's Ministry. Serving in the church brought her great joy. Eunice believed in the power of prayer and was part of several prayer groups, including Connecting Point Prayer Ministry. She also prayed with her children and friends on a regular basis.
Eunice was a mother-like figure to many individuals. Lovingly, but with a firm hand, she guided three very special people to her – Robin Gaither, Dee Prather, and Roland Frazier.

Eunice leaves a host of family and friends to cherish her memory. She is survived by her children, Darrell Prather (Tammy), Eric Prather (Dawn) and Coretta Edmondson (Michael); five grandchildren, Ashley (Jay) Eric Darnelle (Maria), Eric Jamaal, Darrell, Jr. (Naomi) and Guy; four great-grandchildren, Laila, Emory, Londyn, and Jace. She is also survived by one brother, LaRue Offutt (Leoni); and four sisters, Alice Gaither, Dolores Prather, Rosalie Lefeged, and Joan Prather; a special friend, Jeffrey Neal as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
