Evelyn Virginia Hunt Byars, 94, of Greenville, widow of Nathan Lamar Byars, beloved mother, “Mamoose”, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away March 25, 2017.



She was born June 2, 1922 in Greer, SC to the late Robert Walter and Ella Green Hunt. In addition to her husband and parents, three sisters and two brothers, she was also preceded in death by a loving son, Joel H. Byars in 2005.



For over 45 years, Mrs. Byars was a faithful member of Piedmont Park United Methodist Church. She had been a member of Travelers Rest United Methodist Church since 2000.



Mrs. Byars retired after 18 years from the Greenville County School District and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s and son’s business, N. Lamar Byars Plumbing.



Surviving are her two daughters of Greenville; Judy Byars Outlaw and Patti Byars Crenshaw and her husband Charlie Crenshaw; Grandchildren, Chas Crenshaw and his wife Meredith of Greer, Kelsey Crenshaw Sauceda and husband Wilbert; and three beautiful great-grandchildren Levi Crenshaw, Mayes Crenshaw, and Evelyn Rose Sauceda. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Patty Shaw Byars.



Her daughters would like to express their special thanks to Nell Gibson, who faithfully sent mother a card weekly. Jerome Martin and Juanita Mullinax for their visits and Rev. Doug and Mary Gilstrap, from First Presbyterian Church Greenville’s Pastoral Visitation.



We also thank Pearl Stroud’s Personal Caregiver Co and Debbie Trammel of Sitter’s Registry and mother’s caregivers: Calista, Diane, Dormell, Chernee, and Valerie.



Thanks also to Homestead Hospice, especially Selena, Robin, and Lydette and her other CNA’s, April Roberta, Farrah, Catherine, Angela, Deb, and Roni.



The funeral will be held at Mackey Mortuary, in the Chapel on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2:30pm. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1pm to 2:15pm. An interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
