Dr. Evelyn Jean Rogers Requa-Pfau was born in Key West, FL on January 24, 1946 and died May 21, 2017 in Marietta, GA. Jeanie spent her youth in Pensacola, FL where she graduated from Pensacola High School Class of ’64 and Pensacola Junior College. After graduation she moved to South Salem, NY where she married and began her family. Jeanie had always dreamed of working in the medical field and although she was a single parent with 2 young boys, she put herself through Western Connecticut University to become a Registered Nurse. After graduation she worked as an RN at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital in Cross River, New York. To enhance her medical capabilities, she went to Adelphi University to obtain a Masters in Nursing until she found her true calling as a Chiropractor and moved to Marietta, GA to attend Life University College. Dr. Jeanie, as she was known to her patients, moved to Cartersville after opening 1st Step Chiropractic with the theme “Follow me to Good Health Naturally”. She had a holistic approach to treating her patients. She included the study of nutrition and how it affects the body to better treat the whole patient. Dr. Jeanie was very dedicated to her patients, loved children, and took every opportunity to travel. It didn’t matter if it was a weekend in Pensacola, FL or a week long Caribbean cruise. She made multiple trips to Europe with her family. She loved finding new places to explore. One of her favorite expressions she learned from her father was “If you have gas in your tank and music to listen to, you are never lost, just exploring.”|
Jeanie was predeceased by her parents Henry and Evelyn Rogers. She is survived by her husband, Gary Robert Pfau, a Professional Engineer; three sons, James Rogers Requa and wife Janelle of South Salem, NY., Dana Requa and wife Valerie of Atlanta, and Graham Michael Pfau and partner Lee Ogilvie of Atlanta. She is also survived by two grandsons, James Roman and Jazz Requa of South Salem, two brothers Henry “Buddy” Rogers and wife Pam of Slidell, LA., Michael Rogers and wife Karen of Cantonment, FL. and sister Judi Rogers Duncan and husband Jerry of Dallas, GA. Jeanie loved animals and considered herself the mother to 4 four legged babies. In lieu of flowers it would be greatly appreciated if donations would be sent to the Bartow County Animal Shelter or another animal shelter of your choice.
A Memorial service to celebrate Jeanie’s life will be held at 3PM on June 3, 2017 at Owen Funeral Home.
