Fern Laffoon age 78, of Independence Missouri, passed away June 6, 2017. Fern was born August 8, 1938 at home in Kansas City Missouri. She was preceded in death by her Husband Hubert E. Laffoon, her parents Henry Mearl Shields and Gladys Lorraine Shields. Sisters Betty Jo and Norma Gail Shields. Her brother Billy Ray Shields. Son Douglas Edwin Laffoon and Daughter in-law Nancy Ann Laffoon. She is survived by her brother James Lee Shields Springfield Missouri. sister Mary Ann Winslow (Gene Winslow) of Independence Missouri. Daughter Vicky E Arnold (Dennis Arnold) of Greenwood Missouri. Son's Rick Laffoon and Mark Laffoon (Leslie Laffoon) of Independence Missouri. Daughter in-law Robbin Laffoon of Independence Missouri. Fern has 7 Grandchildren, James Arnold (Jessica Arnold) of Pleasant Hill Missouri. Jonathan Arnold of Greenwood Missouri. Daniel Laffoon (Shyan Laffoon). Justin Arnold (Amanda Arnold) of Buckner Missouri, Victoria Overbeck (Eric Overbeck) of Independence Missouri. Jennifer Hodson (Michael Hodson USAF) of Bellevue Nebraska. Christopher Laffoon (Kayla Laffoon) of Independence Missouri. She has 9 great grandchildren. Logan Overbeck, David Arnold, Eli Arnold, Riley Overbeck, Isaiah Arnold, McKenna Overbeck, Audrey Hodson, Alexis Arnold, and Evelynn Hodson.

She worked for Gemaco playing card company for 30 years, as a supervisor for the last few years of service.

Fern was a loving sister, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all.

The service will be officiated by Dennis Arnold. Pall Bearers are James Arnold, Jonathan Arnold, Daniel Laffoon, Justin Arnold, Eric Overbeck, Christopher Laffoon, and Michael Hodson USAF as honorary.

The visitation is June 9th from 6-8 at East Independence Church of Christ. 2020 South 291 Hwy Independence Missouri 64057

Funeral is June 10th, 2:30 pm. At the East Independence Church of Christ. Graveside service will be at Floral Hills cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Luke's East Palliative Care.
