FISK, Florence Elizabeth, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Lexington, Kentucky at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Charles K. Fisk, and her brothers, Nelson H. Hinman and George Hinman, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Fisk-Owais and her husband, Wisam N. Owais of Lexington, Kentucky, as well as 3 nieces, 2 nephews and their families. Florence was born January 17, 1926 in Petersburg, Virginia to George S. and Florence Branch Hinman. She graduated from Petersburg High School and then attended St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing. She met her husband, Charles, while he was stationed at Langley AFB, Virginia and they were married at the AFB Chapel on June 3, 1944. After he returned from serving in the South Pacific they moved to St. Marys, Ohio, later establishing their home in Dayton, Ohio. Early in her marriage, Florence worked as a nurse in various settings. She later enjoyed being a Girl Scout troop leader. She taught piano privately in her home and later taught private students at Spring Valley Academy in Centerville, Ohio. She was a long-time member of the Dayton Piano Teachers Study Club. She was active in church throughout her life. She valued the music ministry in her church, frequently accompanying soloists, playing for services; always with the goal of helping to create an atmosphere of worship. Another great joy of hers was teaching Bible classes in her church and in other settings. Later in life, Florence helped provide regular worship services to residents of nursing homes in the Centerville area. Energy, passion and care for humankind intertwined with love for God characterized Florence's life in a way uniquely hers. She will be keenly missed. The family will receive friends at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Dayton, OH 45429, from 4 to 6:30 pm, Thursday, January 18, 2018.
