Floyd F. Navish 85, ("DoDo" or "Mr. Floyd" to those who knew him well), a lifelong resident of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, May 22, 2017 at the Cheshire Medical Center / Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene.

He was born in Keene, NH on December 13, 1931, the son of Frank and Hermine (Dow) Navish. He attended local schools and was a 1949 graduate of Keene High School.

Mr. Navish proudly served his country as an Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime member of the Gordon Bissell American Legion Keene Post #4 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post #799 of Keene.

Floyd was dedicated to his job for 40 years as a machinist with Markem Corporation in Keene. He was rewarded for his perfect attendance for all those years. During his working years he was an avid sideline fan at all sports events that his children were involved in.

Throughout his life, Floyd enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage and having a few beers. He enjoyed dancing whenever he had the opportunity. He was a lover of all animals and was attached to his cat Pokey. Floyd, a diehard NY Yankee fan always took the heat from his co-workers and friends who supported the Boston Red Sox. Locally, he was a big fan of the Swamp Bats Baseball team and attended as many games as he could during the season. Some described him as, "A good man", "A great guy" "Awesome", "A character", "A Sweetheart", "Everyone loved Floyd", A gentle, kind soul", "Genuine".

Later in life Floyd always found his biggest pleasure was when he was with family and friends. He shared the best smile and sparkle in his eyes when he was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a bit of a prankster and was always able to find humor in jokes that were played on him in return.

He will be greatly missed by many, but not as much as by his children, Debra N. Huntley and her husband, Brian, of Bluffton, SC, Dawn N. Kiritsy and her husband, Stephen, of Hilton Head Island, SC, Dale F. Navish and his wife Meg of Bend, OR, and Dana F. Navish; Clarice Navish and his seven grandchildren, Danielle (Navish) Lorton and her Husband Matt from Glendale, CA, Cara L. (Huntley) Novas and her husband Junior of New Bern, NC, Zachary Kiritsy, Erin Huntley, Matthew Kiritsy, Jeremy Navish, Jasper "Jazi" Navish; and his niece, Maxine "Snuggie" Phelps. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Louise (Loiselle) Navish in 1990; a brother, Douglas Navish; and a sister, Priscilla Maxwell. His friend and long- time companion Dottie Mitchell passed away in 2015. We would like to recognize the people that were our eyes and ears daily while we have been away, his friends, Carol & Howard Hamlin, Rodney Goslin and Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hadden.

A memorial service and celebration of Floyd's life will be held at a date and time this summer and is to be announced.

For those who wish, donations may be made in Floyd's memory to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, West Swanzey, NH 03446.
