Mr. Floyd "John" Franklin Jr., 88, of Rutherford College, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Catawba Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness.
John was born on April 22, 1932 in Caldwell County to the late Floyd Franklin Sr. and Sarah Branch Franklin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had retired from J. Iverson Riddle, where he worked in the maintenance department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Reece Franklin, sisters; Bessie Clarke, Wilma Conley, Pauline Branch, and Lula Jones, and brothers; William Earl Franklin, Arthur Franklin, Hubert Franklin, and David Franklin.
Survivors include one son Roger Franklin and wife Monica of Valdese, two daughters; Connie Franklin of Drexel, and Lori Pinnix and husband Ron of Valdese, one brother, Lewis Franklin and one sister, Lorraine Key. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Joshua Ryan Hughes, Ashley Ritter, Halee Hildebran, Prescott Pinnix, and Randy Lynn Lail Jr., five great-grandchildren, and special friend Beverly Ramm, and his beloved cat Bandit.
A private graveside service will be held by the family at Burke Memorial Park.
