Frances Hughes Dillon, passed away November 14, 2016 at the age of 88. Frances was born September 4, 1928 in Mullens, WV, the daughter of E.P. Hughes and Myrtle Morgan Hughes. She was the second of their four wonderful daughters.

Frances was a National Honor Society graduate of Mullens High class of 1946. She studied Biology at Longwood College and completed her Medical Technology Training at the University of Virginia in 1950. She met her beloved husband of 55 years, Colin Miller Dillon, while studying at UVA. They were married in the University Chapel in 1954.

Frances and Colin settled in Westfield, NJ in 1959. They retired to Tappahannock, Virginia in 1993 where they enjoyed 13 years alongside the picturesque Rappahannock River. Colin’s failing health and a loving family brought them to Atlanta in 2005. Frances enjoyed eleven wonderful years in Atlanta where she made many dear friends as a resident at Canterbury Court and a member of the NUMC Bible Class.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband Colin Miller Dillon and sister Catherine Abernathy. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Clayborne and Inez Platt, son Michael Dillon, daughter-in-law Mary McCune Dillon, and three granddaughters Claire, Tess, and Olivia.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 18th at 2 o'clock in the sanctuary at Northside United Methodist Church. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside United Methodist Church.
