The World suffered a tremendous loss on May 5, 2017. Devoted wife, loving mother, loyal sister and wonderful grandmother, Frances Holton Ditto, died at Beacon Place after suffering a stroke. She loved everyone in her life fiercely and gently and in return they cherished her special soul. A celebration of life will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 9, at Congregational United Church of Christ with Reverends Julie Peoples and Paul Davis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

Fran was born in Ann Arbor, MI to the late Dr. William M. and Ann Llewellyn Ditto. She received her undergraduate degree from Stratford College in Danville, VA and her Master's from UNCG. Fran had a passion for the minds and hearts of others and spent more than 30 years in the Mental Health field. She worked as an EAP Specialist, counselor, therapist, and middle school counselor. For over twenty years she was a faithful member of Congregational United Church of Christ and was moderator and Chair of the Board of Deacons and served on many committees. She reached out to women in need by volunteering at the women's resource center. Her strong faith and sense of integrity always guided her to do the next right thing. Fran, with her infectious smile, great sense of humor and gregarious laugh always brought the fun to the party.

She is survived by her wife and life partner of 23 years, Ann Buffington and their puppy, Pearl Ann, of the home; children, Margaret Ann "Maggie" Efird of Greensboro, George and wife Wendy Attmore of Brentwood, TN and Bill and wife Caroline Attmore of Raleigh, NC; siblings, Carol Cary and husband Richard Rackley of Moseley, VA, Janet Ditto of Greensboro and Lew and wife Cathy Ditto of Brentwood, TN, "adopted" sister, Donna Mae Livingston; and grandchildren, Gray, Anderson, Hattie, and Hackney.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Congregational United Church of Christ, 400 W. Radiance Dr., Greensboro, NC 27403. Online condolences may be made at www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com. Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel is assisting Fran's family.
