Francis Martin, 80, local artist of Fitzwilliam, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by family on July 24, 2017.

He was born May 9, 1937 in Cambridge, MA to Francis Martin, Jr. and Evelyn M. (Decouteau) Martin.

After serving as a Corpman in the Navy from 1954 to 1958, he graduated with a Commercial Arts Degree from the Boston Institute of Art in Boston, MA.

He married the late Marie Elizabeth (Pero) Martin on December 30, 1956 and together they had five children.
Francis worked at many area locations including the Troy Mills, C. R. Bard, Inc., and NH Ball Bearings. He was the first ever Friendly Bus Driver for HCS in Keene.

As a well-known musician in the area, he played in a gospel band, with the Senior Swingers at the Senior Center in Keene, and in 2012, he and his daughter Lorraine Pellegrino teamed up and brought their Father/Daughter singing show to nursing homes throughout the area as well as to private parties, East Hill Farm in Troy, and The Old Salt Restaurant in Hampton.

Francis married Brenda (Mason) Hanninen Martin June 8, 2013.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda; five children: Lorraine Pellegrino and her husband Dennis of Walpole, Francis Martin of Keene, Robert Martin and his wife Sherri of Surry, Gary Martin and his wife Debbie of Fitzwilliam, and Lisa Martin and her companion Ted of Swanzey; two stepsons: Lee Hanninen and his wife Deb of Fitzwilliam, and Russell Hanninen and his wife Cyndie of Marlborough; two sisters: Geraldine Rodgers of Groveland, FL, and Ann Canavan and her husband Joe of Apopka, FL; a sister-in-law: Rita Pero of Keene; and 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A brother, Raymond Martin died earlier.

Family and friends are invited to call at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated the following day, Tuesday, August 1 at 10:30 am at St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH. Burial will be private at the family's convenience.
