Francis "Frankie" William Herzog, Jr., age 75, of Phoenix, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at his home in Phoenix. He was born on August 27, 1942 to the late Francis and Frances (Thoeness) Herzog in Alexandria, MN. Frankie attended Jefferson Senior High School graduating in the class of 1960. He worked at San Plumbing Wholesale as a Manager, retiring after 25 years of service. On February 18, 1989 he married Carol Myers in Phoenix. He was a proud member of the Western Saddle Club and the Arizona Desert Riders. He enjoyed watching the Vikings, NASCAR, and helped start and flagged for the Viking Speedway in Alexandria. He loved riding and tending to his horses and spending time with his family. Frankie is survived by his loving spouse of 28 years, Carol; three sons, Shawn (Karin) Herzog, Brian Herzog, and Shane (Marilyn) Herzog; two step-sons, Rob (Jennifer) Firestone, and Greg Firestone; four siblings, Arlene Oelrich, Phyllis (Tim) Boesl, and twin sisters, Louann Carlson and Mary Ann (Rick) Zastrow; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; beloved dog, Justin; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sharon Louise Berglin Herzog. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4930 E. Greenway Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 with a reception to follow the service. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at VFW Post #936, 1102 3rd Avenue East, Alexandria, MN 56308.
