Bridgewater Frank A. Papera 86, died May 18, 2017. Frank was born and raised in Raritan, N.J. where he made and cherished many friendships which continued for a lifetime. He was a resident of Somerville 42 years, then moved to Bridgewater, residing there for the past 15 years. He joined the N.J. National Guard and served in the Army 1951-1953 during the Korean War. He began his employment with many other family members at Art Color Printing Company in Dunellen, later attending Rider University where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Commerce, majoring in business administration. A change of career resulted in 33 years in banking, attaining the title of Vice President with New Jersey Savings Bank, heading their Loan Division. He previously worked for First National Bank of Central Jersey and later Somerset Savings Bank. Frank owned and operated Papera Builders, Inc. and loved developing and building homes until retiring in 2006. He was a trustee of Somerset Visiting Nurses, served several terms as president of the Somerville Lions, a member of the Mortgage Committee of the N.J. Bankers Association, American Legion Post 12 in Somerville, the VFW Post in Manville and served as financial secretary of both the Somerville Knights of Columbus and West End Sportsman's Club. He was introduced to a Men's Bible Study in 2000, which completely changed his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with cars, the Jersey Shore and sking. Frank will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Domenick and Rose, and sister, Ann Leibold, who died in 2002. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte, a son Mark and wife Patty, three daughters, Beverly Oliver and husband Bruce, Brenda Papera, and Francine Papera-Mechling and husband John, two sisters Lena DelMonte and Mary Demyan, and a brother Dominick, five grandchildren, Michelle, Melissa, Megan, Amy and Dylan. Prayers will be said 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave. Somerville, followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
