Frank Mansfield, age 95, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

Frank will be forever remembered by his daughter, Frances Mercer, son, Thomas Mansfield, stepdaughter, Clara Lehman, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and countless friends. Frank is preceded in death by Sara Mansfield, his first wife, Frances Sherron, stepson, James Blow, stepdaughter, Jackie Davis, and son-in-law, Jack Mercer.

Frank served honorably in World War II as a Tech Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps where his unit received Presidential Unit Citations for valor in the South Pacific Campaign.

Frank was an Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable; he was also honored with the Silver Beaver Award, and served for 20 years as the Scoutmaster of Troop 10, Edenton Methodist Church.

Frank believed in beginning every day with purpose; he was involved in numerous clubs and volunteer groups, he loved traveling with Sara, woodworking, his church, and his family and friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 4 from 7:00-9:00pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh. A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 5 at 10:00am at West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, 27 Horne Street, Raleigh. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
