Franklin James Janaskie M/Sgt. (R), USAF , 86, of Hot Springs passed away at home surrounded by family on September 2, 2017. He was born to Clara Ellen (Ross) and Paul A. Janaskie on February 22, 1931 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania.



He is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mary; and his oldest daughter, Mary J. Wise, as well as his nephew, Alan Janaskie.



He is survived by his children; Suzan C. Davis, Candis A. Oliver (John), Christine B. Janaskie, Linda F. Stubbs (Michael) and Franklin J. Janaskie, Jr (Lynn). Also surviving him are his grandchildren; Matt (Kate) Davis, Beth (Jacob) Williams, Andrew Davis, Justin Janaskie, Kaitlin (Dustin) Raines, Sean-Michael Stubbs, and two great grandchildren, Mary Evelyn Davis, and Nicholas Franklin Williams.



Frank married the love of his life, Mary Catherine McFadden, on June 3, 1950.



Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1947, serving his country faithfully. He retired on March 1, 1970, after serving 22 years active duty. While on active duty, he was stationed at the San Antonio, Cheyenne, Pentagon, Long Island, Colorado Springs, St. Louis, Biloxi, and Poitiers, France. For his last assignment, he was stationed in Hot Springs at the Air National Guard. Frank was fortunate enough to be able to take his family wherever he was stationed. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force; he was in the Air Force Reserves until 1978. Following his military career, he retired from the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center as an electronics instructor; ending his career working at Dillard’s.



Frank believed in the power of education and felt his greatest accomplishment was ensuring that all his children received a college education; a tradition continued on by his children.



A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Gross Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s of the Springs Catholic Church with Father George Sanders officiating on Friday, September 8th at 1:00 P.M. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be Matt Davis, Andrew Davis, Justin Janaskie, Sean- Michael Stubbs, Jacob Williams, and Dustin Raines.



The family wishes to extend a huge thank you for the wonderful care and compassion that he received from his physician, Dr. John B. Bond.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Suzan C. Davis Clinical Excellence Scholarship, c/o NPC at 100 College Dr., Hot Springs, AR. 71913.
