Franklin Richard (Dick) Loman was born January 19, 1943 in Boonville, MO. He was the eldest child of Clinton Harry and Goldie Irene (Nelson) Loman. He departed this life on December 19, 2016 at age 73. He grew up in Boonville, MO where he attended public school and was active in football, band, school plays and 4-H. Dick spent many hours working in the family service station business.
Dick attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO on a football scholarship and was inducted into their athletic Hall of Fame on their 50th year anniversary. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1965 and went back to his hometown on Boonville to begin his teaching career teaching English and Social Studies. That career was interrupted when Uncle Sam called, and he was drafted into the US Army. Dick spent his Army career as a courier stationed in Asmara, Ethiopia. His Army years allowed him to travel extensively, but when he had fulfilled those obligations, he chose to come back home to Boonville where he then taught physical education, health, science and coached football and basketball for the next 14 years.
Dick chose to further his education and went into Elementary Education Administration earning his Masters and Specialist degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He then worked as an administrator in Ellington, Grand Valley and Houston, MO. During his educational career he was a roll model to lots of young people as a teacher, coach and administrator. His philosophy of education always centered on the students, believing that each and every student deserved an equal opportunity for quality learning. Twice, he was elected by the Southwest Missouri Elementary Principle’s Association as “Distinguished Principal of the Year”. He was also very proud to lead the Houston Elementary School as a model school in the state of Missouri.
Dick married Linda Finley in 1976 and to this union three sons were added: Clinton Harry, Robert Finley, and Brett Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by wife Linda, sons: Clinton and wife Kim, Robert and wife Ericka, Brett and wife Samantha, and three grandchildren: Justin, Molly, and Abbygail.
Dick loved sports and Nascar racing. He was always keeping up with the Missouri teams and especially the grandchildren’s sporting and music events.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Christian Church in Boonville, Friday, December 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
