Fred Montgomery, known to his family & friends as Bo, went to be with the Lord February 2, 2020 at Vidant Chowan Hospital. He was 63 years young. Born January 3, 1957 in Marion County, Indiana, he was the son of John & Barbara Montgomery, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jessie & Manola Hicks & paternal grandparents, John & Lucille Montgomery.
Bo grew up in Universal, Indiana and served in the United States Navy from 1977 to 1980 working as a Hull Tech. After his discharge, he worked in the roofing construction business in the Tidewater area of Virginia. He eventually became a contractor & operated his own roofing construction business for almost 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Lynn Montgomery; his brother John & wife Vicky & sister, Pat; his children, Paul & wife Kim, Fred (also known as Bo), Jesse, Maria, Teri & husband Dale; 4 grandchildren & many aunts, uncles, cousins & nephews.
He loved his family. He enjoyed music & playing his guitar. He was a faithful Miami Dolphins fan & loved Nascar. He had a Nascar collection even his grandson, Bradley, enjoyed.
A private service was held Tuesday, February 4th at Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Pastor Tommy Oliver. His body was donated to Campbell University School Of Medicine.
Donations can be made in his name to the Fisher House Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
He touched many lives & many lives touched him.
Had Bo known he was leaving so soon, he would have sent in his absentee ballot for President Trump.
