Fred J. Lauderdale, Jr.

Fred J. Lauderdale, Jr., a Monterey Peninsula native, passed away at Community Hospital. He was very proud of his American Indian heritage as a descendent of the Osage, Choctaw and Cherokee tribes. Fred's career as an Asphalt Operator in the construction industry spanned fifty-three years. He worked for the Construction Workers Union for seven years at which time he began working in his father's paving business. After twenty years, he joined Monterey Peninsula Engineers retiring after twenty-six years.
Fred is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Linda; his sons, Robert (Theresa) and Jessie of Prunedale and James of Salinas; his sister, Barbara (John) Dennis of Seaside; his grandchildren, Jason, Taylor and Brianna; many nieces and nephews and his furry friends, Cleo and Cisco. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny, David and Michael.
Visitation will take place at The Paul Mortuary Chapel tomorrow, Wednesday, November 9 at 10:00 am with Fred's funeral service beginning at 11:00 am followed by burial at El Carmelo Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, SD, 57325 or to the Salinas Animal Shelter, 144 Hitchcock Rd., Salinas, 93908.
