CEDAR FALLS- Fred J. Burke, 76, of Cedar Falls died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born September 29, 1937 in Mason City, Iowa, son of John and Eileen (Snoock) Burke. He married Mary Kissel on February 23, 1963 in Osage, Iowa.

He was a machinist with John Deere, retiring in 1994.

Survived by: his wife, Mary of Cedar Falls; a son, Thomas (Darci Jones) of McGregor; a daughter, Sheila Burke of Waterloo; three granddaughters, Nicole and Stephanie Burke, and Kate Burke-Luebbers; two great grandchildren, Caiden Bailey and Jade Burke; a brother, John Burke of Rice Lake, WI; and a sister, Ann Rishavy of Mankato, MN.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a brother; a sister; and a son, James Burke.

Private Family Services are planned for a later date. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Fred was an avid snowmobiler and boater and called McGregor, Iowa his second home for 16 years
