Frederick Fenton "Rick" Dowden peacefully passed from this life Monday March 23, 2015 at his residence in Chester at the age of 70.
Born January 26, 1945 to the late Guy and Ruth (Neely) Dowden in San Mateo, CA, Rick as he affectionately became known was raised in San Francisco where he graduated from Lincoln High School. He went on to continue his education at the University of Arizona, Tempe and later in life San Francisco City College.
Rick had worked in the construction industry for some forty years where he was self employed carpenter and cabinet maker.
Hearing of the loss of his best friend he contacted his widow to express his condolences, a call that led to a relationship, relocation from New York and marriage of the couple in 2005 in Chester.
Rick was an avid tennis player and enjoyed sailing. He will be remembered by many for his talent as a poet and author of short stories.
In passing Rick leaves his loving wife; Kim of Chester, son; Ryan Grant and wife Jessica of Minden, Nevada, daughter; Leigh Brown and husband Mike of Oxnard, CA his much loved grandchildren; Austin and Colby Grant, along with a brother; John Dowden of Novato, CA.
A Celebration of Rick's Life is being planned for a later date. Graveside Services will take place Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 10:00AM in the Chester District Cemetery.
