Garland Louis Bourgeois, Jr. passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the age of 75 years old. He was born in New Orleans and was a longtime resident of Kenner, LA and has resided in Bayou Gauche since Hurricane Katrina. Garland was a retired NOPD officer and faithfully served for many years as a deacon with the Archdiocese of New Orleans at St. Jerome Parish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish, and St. John the Baptist Parish in Paradis, LA. He truly enjoyed parish work and touched many lives through his ministry.

Garland is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Barbara Nichol Bourgeois; children Rusty Bourgeois (Mandy), Denise Breaux (Trebor), and Mary Elizabeth Stubblefield (Brian); 8 grandchildren Theresa, Claudette, Martin, Matthew, B.J., Hank, Lili, and Symon; and 4 great grandchildren Austin Lee, Braelyn, Cameron, and Grayson. He is preceded in death by his two sons Bryan Bourgeois and David Bourgeois; and his parents Garland Louis Bourgeois, Sr. and Audrey Hano Bourgeois.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 15405 Highway 90, Paradis, LA 70080 on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
