Garland Robert LaRue, 73, a resident of Hector, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 25, 1934, at Pleasant Grove to Homer Edgar and Sarah Leona Starks LaRue. He was a retired carpenter and a farmer, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Ora Faye Smith LaRue; a sister, Leaunia Cossey; and a brother, Ed LaRue.

Survivors include his wife, Sue LaRue of Hector; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carolyn LaRue of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Jim Riner of Hector; two step daughters, Janet Hyatt and Johnnie Mason, both of Hector; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Pat LaRue of Dover, Jesse and Ruby LaRue of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Bill and Anna Faye LaRue of Dover, Wayne and Sue LaRue of Bentonville, the Rev. Homer and Diane LaRue of Hot Springs, and Gayland and Alice LaRue of Dover; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Izola Sain of Dover and Juanita and Dick Van Ohlen of Russellville; seven grandchildren, Felecia Turnbow and her husband Jeff of Russellville, Kelly Hood of Houston, Texas, Justin Hood and his wife Lisa of Dover, Linsey Fryar and her husband Josh of Dover, Rob LaRue and his wife Kayla of Russellville, and Brad Hyatt and Zane Mason, both of Hector; four great grandchildren, Alton and Toria Turnbow of Russellville, Rianna Hampton of Dover, and Taleese Fryar of Dover; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry Don and Judy Smith, Roy Jr. and Beverly Smith, and Marie Champion, all of Hector; and numerous nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2008, at the Pleasant Grove Assembly of God with the Rev. Jackie Pledger, the Rev. Rob LaRue, and the Rev. Ira Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery at Hector under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers will be Justin Hood, Rob LaRue, Jeff Turnbow, Josh Fryar, Larry Don Smith, and Roy Smith Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Hurley, Jeff Selman, Odell Freeman, Freddy Nelson, Andy Estes, and Jim Riner.

Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
