Gary "Carl" Fisher, 82, of Vermilion, passed away, while surrounded by his loving family, in the early morning hours on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at MetroHealth Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born November 10, 1934 in Smithfield, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 55 years moving from West Virginia.
Carl was a veteran of the US Army and loved to share stories about his military experience and the time he spent in Germany.
He worked as an inspector for Ford Motor Co., Lorain retiring in 1991, after 30 years.

He was a member of the UAW #425 and a past member of VFW Post #7576. Carl had a smile, a joke, and a kind word for most everyone he met. He had a lot of advice for his family, his granddaughters and their friends, and was sure to keep everyone up to date on the latest news concerns. Carl also enjoyed working on his 'ol truck, cars, and anything in general he could tinker with. He was the master fixer. He enjoyed socializing at McDonald's with other retirees and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, in particular his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet (nee Carte) Fisher of Vermilion; daughter, Teresa (Drew) Kreger of Lorain; granddaughters, Jenna and Jessica Kreger; brother, Alan Fisher of Fairmont, WV; and his sisters, Leah Kervaski of Fairmont, WV, Alma Ludwick of Clarksburg, WV, and Linda Fisher of Clarksburg, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Okey and Myrtle (nee Higginbotham) Fisher; daughter, Angela Fisher; and his brothers, Melvin, Bernard, and David Fisher.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A celebration of his life will be Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion where the Veterans Council will conduct military honors.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
