Gary Franklin Cole, 25, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. He was born March 20, 1987 in Jackson, MS, and resided in Brandon, MS. He was a member of the first graduating class of the Mississippi School of the Arts in 2005 in Brookhaven, MS. After graduation, he lived for several years in New York City, Ann Arbor, MI, and San Diego, CA. He returned to Mississippi in December, 2010.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda Cole of Brandon; father, John R. Cole of Summit; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy J. Morton of Jackson; grandmother, Mrs. Willie Cole Ward of Bogue Chitto; brothers, Rob (Melanie) Hataway of Ridgeland, John Richard Cole, Jr., of Bogue Chitto, Clay (Jami) King, of Petal; niece Maggie Hataway; nephew and niece Nate and Kalyn King; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gary accepted God's call on his life at a young age, and was gifted by God with many special talents. He had an especially beautiful singing voice, which he used often from a very young age to sing praise songs to our Lord. He also was blessed to be able to compose music and lyrics. Many friends and family have benefitted from Gary's artistic side, evidenced by beautiful floral arrangements and decorative items which he was able to imagine and create. He not only loved creating things of beauty in the world, he got pleasure from bringing joy into the lives of friends and family by taking advantage of opportunities to meet needs of others as he was able.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gary's honor to the International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org) or to Cross Country Ministries (www.crosscountryministries.net).
