Gary Lee "Tony" Dalton, Sr., 79, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly at Chenango Memorial Hospital on December 20, 2016. Gary was born on September 19, 1937 in Philippi, West Virginia to the late French and Portia Dalton. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, West Virginia and served his country in the US Navy from 1956-1960. Gary was an avid fisherman and loved hunting until his health prevented him from walking long distances. Gary was well known for his singing at the Halfway House and his lottery trips to Tops with all his friends. Gary met his wife Caroline (Kaye) Stevens, who survives, after his discharge from the Navy. They have four children, Tracy and Chad Darrah; Gary and Gina Dalton; Doreen and Todd Connelly; and Caryn and Mike Smith; 13 grandchildren, Ronnie, Christopher and Nina Moore; Kain and River Dalton; Josh and T.J. Connelly; Trevor and Blake Darrah; Brett Gilbert; Hailey Wilbur; and Dalton and Grace Smith. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew. Gary was predeceased by his parents; his son, Scott; and his sister and brother in law, Nina and Rev. Kenneth Simpson. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich, with Rev. David Spiegel officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in South New Berlin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
