BROOK, Lt. Col., Ret., Gary Winfield, 77, entered into rest December 13, 2016 in Altamonte Springs, FL. He was born April 4, 1939, in Eugene, Oregon, to Niles Winfield and Lucille (Favor) Brook and attended local schools. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon. Gary and his wife Mary moved to Orlando and built a home in Tuskawilla in 1985. Gary was an instructor Pilot at Moody air force base, Valdosta Georgia and he was stationed in Thailand, 1975 where he was the Flight Commander. In 1977, was Squadron Commander for Basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio Texas. Gary is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served his country with dignity and honor. He retired from the Air Force with Full Military Honors. After retirement, Gary worked for Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin in Procurement. He retired from Martin Marietta numerous times, yet he was recalled for his services. Gary was a member of the Winter Park Masonic Lodge #239 and earned Degrees, EA, FC, and Master Mason. Also held membership in the Scottish Rite, York Rite and Legion of Honor in the Bahia Shrine. He served as Treasurer of the City of Winter Springs and was a committee member on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board. Gary was a great man who loved his family his community and his country. He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Mary Aleine Brook of 61 years, he is survived by his 2 daughters, Joyce A. Brook and Karen L. Brook; granddaughter, Willow Brook. A Celebration of Life Service will be held, 2 PM, Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 994 E. Altamonte Dr., Altamonte Springs, FL, 32701.
