Allen Butler passed away on April 13, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born on March 10, 1935, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Edmond Butler who predeceased him. He was also predeceased five months ago by his wife of 54 years, Sally Wheeler Butler. He is survived by his devoted sister, Elaine Gibson and her husband Richard Gibson and their family; four children, Sally Marcella Butler, Walter Rowland Butler, Allen Murray Butler, and James Edmond Butler; and three beloved grandchildren, Mark Wheeler Butler, Lula Seale Butler, and Ellie Reba Allen Butler. Allen was a native of Dallas, a proud graduate of Sunset High School, and loyal alumnus of Rice University and SMU Law School. He loved the practice of law and was a member of Clark, West, Keller, Butler & Ellis for 40 years. He was still acting as a mediator in labor disputes until his death. He was a devout member of The Church of the Incarnation where he gave his time to the Community of Hope and to the Granger Ministries. He was dedicated to the Reading Buddy Program at J. W. Ray Elementary School. As well, the Salvation Army and its Adult Rehabilitation Center benefited from his energy and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. at The Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Ave., Dallas, Texas 75204.
