George Lee (G.L.) Springer passed away June 22, 2017 after a four month battle with cancer. G.L. was a loving husband of 17 years, a remarkable father, proudly served as a KCMO Police Officer, baseball coach, and friend to so many. His infectious smile, friendship to all, competiveness on the golf course, and love of life will be dearly missed by many.

G.L. was born January 10, 1972 in Kansas City, MO and was 45 years of age at the time of his death. G.L. grew up in various places but really found his home in Independence MO, where he graduated from Truman High School in 1990 and attended SMSU and CMSU later.

G.L. was appointed to the KCMO police department on November 20, 1994. His assignments included South Patrol Division, Rapid Response Team 5, South PACT, Central Patrol Division, Police Athletic League, Metro Patrol Division, Domestic Violence Section, and Metro Property Crimes Section.

It was with the Police Athletic League, his own love of the baseball, and his lifetime support of the Royals that fed his passion for coaching and teaching children baseball. G.L. was the head coach of the Naturals 9U AA baseball team but coached various teams over the years.

G.L. is survived by his wife, Danielle; two sons, Dylan and Brett, all of the home; parents, Gary and Margaret Springer; three brothers, Gary Springer, Jr., Greg Springer and Grant Springer; and sister, Lori Ritter, and many other family members.
