Georgia Mae (Vance) White

Georgia was born in Dodd City, Texas on May 23, 1933 to the parentage of George Vance and Gussie Lee Bethem. She was the oldest of 3 children. She attended and played basketball for the Booker T. Washington Eagles in Bonham, Texas. On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, she yielded her spirit to God and entered a place of rest, taking on angel wings. Although words can’t serve the depth in which she is loved and will be truly missed. Georgia was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Abe L. White on August 22, 1948 in Greenville, Tx. To this union Six children were born. She was affectionately called Madea, Big Mama, Aunt Georgia, and Georgia Mae. Georgia became a Christian at an early age. She was a faithful member of St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. C.J. R. Phillips, Sr. and continued under Rev. Dr. C.J. R. Phillips, Jr. She was a part of the Women’s Ministry and Usher Board. Both parents preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death were daughter Edna Jean White and sons Johnny Ray White and Alan Lee White, granddaughter Stephanie Chapman and son-in-law William Chapman. Georgia leaves to cherish her memories and legacy: her husband of 68 years, Abe White; 3 daughters Patricia Lyons (James); Belinda Chapman; and Cathy Lattimer (Daryl); 9 grandchildren, Kevin Lyons, Cassandra Jackson (Gregory), Cedric Lyons (Shellye), Portia Chapman, Anitra Harris (Jabari), Tiffany White, Daryl Lattimer, Jr. (Angel), Jaleesa White, Derrick Lattimer; One sister, Darlene Ross; One brother-in-law, Rev. J.C. White (Earlene); 25 Great Grandchildren; 9 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
