Gerald Arthur Boatwright September 2, 1933---May 14, 2017 Gerald Boatwright, 83, of Albany died Sunday at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. Born in Des Moines to Wilbur and Clara (Masker) Boatwright, Gerald was one of a family of 7 children. After graduation from High School he entered the Army and served in Korea. Upon his discharge Gerald returned to Des Moines where he married Phyllis Murray and then moved to Albany. Gerald was a master brick mason, and built many structures in the Albany and Corvallis area, as well as at OSU and throughout the mid valley. He was one of those men who "helped shape our community." His wife Phyllis passed away in 1995, and several years later Gerald found love and companionship with Janice Striplin, his life partner of the last 8 years. She survives, as do sons David, Steve, John, Jim, and Dan Boatwright; daughter Diana Boatwright; sisters Trudy Hester and Phil Conway; and 33 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Fisher Funeral Home on Saturday May 20, 2017 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow at the Eagles at 2:00pm. A private Interment will be at Palestine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St., Albany, OR 97321.
