Gerald Duane Schwendinger, eighty-three, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away on 28 August 2017 in McDonough, Georgia.



Visitation will be held at Haisten Funeral Home on Wednesday, 30 August 2017 from 6:00pm-8:30pm.



Memorial service will be at 2pm on Thursday, 31 August 2017 at United Methodist Church in McDonough, Georgia.



Jerry was born in Sterling, Illinois to Henry and Mildred Schwendinger on 15 May 1934. He moved to San Bernardino, California, as a young child. Jerry served in the Korean War. After a short career on the Southern Pacific Railroad, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he began his career in golf. In D.C., Jerry met his bride, Dianne Deao. They married 10 December 1966 in Annapolis, Maryland. He later moved to McDonough, Georgia where he pursued his life long career of gold, running Green Valley Golf Club. Later, he developed and operated Cotton Fields Golf Club until 2007.



Jerry Schwendinger is survived by his wife, Dianne Schwendinger, and his five children: Shelley (David) Stearns, Sydney (Allen) Partain, Jon (Kim) Schwendinger, Jason (Jackie) Schwendinger, and Sarah (Scott) Ferguson. Aside from his children, he is survived by his twenty-four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
