Gerald “Jerry” Litteral, 88, of Columbia, MO passed away at his home on May 3, 2017.



Gerald was born November 16, 1928 in St. Louis, MO son of Raleigh and Mazie Litteral who preceded him in death.



He married Doris J. Luker on April 14, 1951 and she preceded him in death. On May 21, 1983 Jerry married Leona Jirmars and she survives.



Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army from 1946 – 1948 and received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Jerry moved to the Kansas City MO area and worked as a computer programmer for the Hallmark Card Company for 37 years before his retirement. Jerry moved to Columbia in 1989. He was a member of the Columbia, MO, VFW post 280, he enjoyed being with his fellow veteran’s and also enjoyed bowling as a member of multiple bowling leagues.



He is survived by his wife Leona of the home, children, Judy (John) Bahre of Topeka KS and Ross (Joey) Litteral of Bismark, MO, Betty (Jerry) King of Bucklen, MO, Mary (Francis) Rippenkroeger and Anita Sanderson(Paul) of Columbia, MO, six grandchildren Richard Litteral and Shannon Brewer, Tony and Edward King, Jeffrey and Lindsey Sanderson, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen and brother Roger.



Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia with a visitation from 10:00 am until the service time Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the Columbia Senior Center.
