Gerald L. Gillotti "Jerry", age 80, of Kettering passed away November 23, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Born February 19, 1937 to the late Adam and Rose (Angelo) Gillotti. Also preceding him in death is his son, Stephen Gillotti. Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Winifred (Winnie) Gillotti; son Michael (Paula); daughter Catherine; daughter in-law Cynthia Gillotti; brothers Fred (Carol), Tom; his Aunt Mildred; and his 5 grandchildren, Thomas, Christina, Katie, Maria, and Dominic; many nieces and nephews and extended family. A native Daytonian, Jerry graduated from Chaminade High School in 1955, and the University of Dayton in 1962. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 in Germany, where he developed his love of jazz music. In his early career, he worked in advertising for Cassano Pizza Kings for seven and a half years before purchasing an Italian restaurant, The Wedgewood Inn. After two and a half years, he sold the restaurant and began his music-only venue Gilly's, where he brought nationally known jazz and blues acts to Dayton for the past 45 years. Jerry also hosted Fans in the Stands, as well as hosting a Sunday morning jazz program on various radio stations over the years. In 2013, Jerry received the Entertainment Business Leader award and was inducted into the Dayton Walk of Fame. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton or St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
