GERALD (JERRY) FLESCHE

Gerald (Jerry) L. Flesche, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, June 4th, 2017. He was just over age 92 and resided the last two years at an adult family home in Lakewood, WA. Gerald was born September 7th, 1924 in St. Maries, Idaho. At the age of four his father died from a tragic accident and his mother disappeared so Gerald and his sister, Evelyn, then moved to the Mooseheart orphanage in Illinois where he lived and went to school through age 17. He enlisted in the navy after the start of WWII and served on the USS Benjamin Franklin until it was destroyed. After an honorable discharge, he completed his military career in the army and national guard for a total of 42 years. He was married to Hannah Johnson for almost 65 years until she passed away in May of 2015. They lived and retired in Puyallup, WA. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and machine embroidery. He is survived by his three daughters, Judith A. Kincaid, Patricia Rehwinkel and Susan Porterfield; four grandchildren; as well as four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, June 25th, at Powers Funeral Home, 320 W. Pioneer Ave., Puyallup, WA. A special thanks to all of those that cared for Gerald during his last days.
