Gertrude “Trudy” Lillian Frederick Robison, 93, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2017. Born September 4 in Syracuse, N.Y., Trudy was the youngest of five. She worked as a secretary at IBM in Endicott, N.Y. Trudy met Howard Winfield Robison in May 1946 on a blind date and they married in November of that year. They had two children in Owego, N.Y., before moving to the Washington D.C. area after Howard was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1958. As a congressman’s wife, Trudy danced with presidents at White House parties, traveled the world, and met many interesting people. She spent summers with her family at a cottage on Highland Lake in Warren, P.A. Howard and Trudy retired in Rehoboth Beach, D.E., and she moved to Annapolis, M.D., shortly after Howard’s death in 1987. Lovingly nicknamed “Mimi” by her grandchildren, Trudy lived a full and exciting life. She brought so much joy and love to everyone – her infectious laugh will resound forever. She is survived by her children, Lauren and Douglas (wife Amy), and her grandchildren, Keith, Kris, Kyle, Megan, and Michael. A service in Trudy’s memory will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis; reception to follow at Trudy’s home. Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Owego. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Lake Association.
