Gladys Ethel Sweet, 87, of Colchester, VT passed away on February 6, 2018. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 25, 1930 to the late Joseph and Gladys Raymond. Gladys loved to play bingo and go "bugging". She enjoyed many trips with her husband to Las Vegas, Eagle's conventions and cruises. Gladys was last employed at Ames Department Store in Essex. In addition to her parents Gladys was preceded by the love of her life, Gary "Duckie" Sweet of 45 years; sons, Joseph and Austin Garrison; daughter, Gail Garrison and sister, Florence Tasetano. She is survived by her son, Jim Garrison Jr. and wife Lucy of Milton, VT; daughters, Rosemarie Plantier and husband Steve of Milton, VT, Glenda Smith of Colchester, VT and Gene Merchant and husband Mark of Stephens City, VA; sister, Harriet Hershey and husband E. Steven of CT; brother-in-law, John Sweet of TX; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff at Starr Farm Nursing Center and Lorraine Garrison." Calling hours will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM on Saturday February 10, 2018 at the Ready Funeral Home and Cremation Services South Chapel 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington, VT. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to BAYADA Hospice - 2517 Shelburne Road, Shelburne, VT 05482.
