Gladys Marie (Morrell) Lutker, 94, of Norman, went to meet her Lord and Savior on September 5, 2011. Gladys was born to Joseph King and Maude Mae (Clary) Morrell in Corbett, OK on July 2, 1917, the third of seven children.
She always excelled at school and graduated valedictorian of Lexington High School. In 1938, Gladys married William "Bill" Lutker, who was the pastor at Corbett Baptist Church and later at other churches throughout the state. To that union was born one child, Linda Sue.
In 1955, the Lutkers moved to Norman, where they made their home for 50 years. Bill and Gladys were members of Trinity Baptist Church. Gladys was a self-taught piano player and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She taught Sunday school for many years and was very involved in all church activities. She was known for her loving spirit and her gift of mercy.
Gladys served as an assistant cashier at First National Bank of Norman, where she worked for 25 years retiring in 1982. All her fellow employees loved and revered her.
Gladys was an essential part of her extended family, always showing kindness and generosity.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Lutker; daughter Linda Sue Walton; two sisters and one brother.
Gladys is survived by her brother Carl Morrell of Norman; sisters Dorothy Smith of Virginia and Sue Stewart of Amber; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Gladys will be 2:00PM Thursday, at Primrose Chapel. Burial will follow at Lexington Cemetery.
