COLUMBIA Gloria Carmen Fernandez De Velasco y Lopez Wise, 62, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Charleston on July 11, 2017, after a brave battle with cancer. Born in communist Cuba, Gloria moved from Havana to Miami with her family in 1960, where her father attended the University of Miami to re-establish his law degree as a U.S. citizen. The Fernandez family moved to New York City in 1963, where she later met her husband, Milton B. Wise, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Wise moved to South Carolina in 1992 to be close to his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Milton B. Wise (Elenita) of Seneca, S.C.

Gloria is predeceased by her parents, Joaquin & Carmen Fernandez, and her uncle Oscar Padro of NYC. She is survived by her brother, Jack Fernandez, his wife, Victoria and nephews Alex and Dylan of Ocean Ridge, FL; uncle, Orlando Padro and cousins, Barbara and Stanley of Coral Cables, FL; brother-in-law, Tim Wise, his wife Carrie, nephew, Josh and niece, Allie of Niwot, CO; and sister-in-law, Becky Potter, her husband, Billy and nephew, Nick of Richmond, VA.
